Performance plateaued or looking to improve? Our video analysis and technique advice could be the breakthrough you need.

What's a Technique Assessment?

It's a one-on-one session with a coach who observes your swimming, biking and/or running form and assesses what they see against a checklist of what is considered normal and efficient. The session usually includes video analysis so the activity can be reviewed in slow motion to highlight any opportunities for improvement and help the athlete visualise what they are doing. The coach's advice is usually summarised in a short report including photos or videos clips to reinforce the desired technique.

Why are they important?

In our minds we all believe we swim like Kieren Perkins and run like Mo Farrah but the reality is usually different. Having someone with a trained eye spend time observing your technique can offer invaluable insights that you can't see yourself. Assessments often pick up on minor adjustments that can improve movement efficiency, reduce injury potential, reduce drag and save energy. It's free speed!

What's included?

Our assessments are customisable based on your needs but typically include the following:

  • An initial discussion with the coach to understand your sporting history, any current or past injuries or health issues, your current training load and what you'd like to get out of the assessment
  • A 60-90 minute training/observation/feedback session with the coach at a mutually agreeable location
  • Within 7 days of the session, a written report will be provided including photos and/or video summarising the coach's observations and  recommendations for drills and exercises to address areas for improvement
  •  A followup discussion after the report has been issued to review and clarify any of the recommendations and address any questions
